BD Micro-Fine+ Penkanyle 1ml 29G is a standard-capacity insulin syringe with an attached fine needle, engineered for delivering up to 100 units (1.0 ml) of medication with high accuracy and reliability. Featuring a 1ml bar29-gauge** needle, this syringe is often used when medium to larger doses are needed in a single injection. The 1ml size is commonly used by people with diabetes who may require higher doses of i clinics drawing up full milliliter amounts of various injectables. The 29G needle, while slightly thicker than the 30G, is still considered an ultra-fine needle that minimizes patient discomfort while providing a bit more robustness for the larger volume. Like all BD Micro-Fine+ syringes, the 1ml 29G version emphasizes precision (clear unit markings up to 100 units) and patient comfort (sharp, lubricated needle). It allows for little-to-no downtime when switching between drawing up and injecting, since it’s an all-in-one unit. This model is favored for its versatility: it can be used for subcutaneous injections in diabetes care, HCG injections in fertility treatments, or even for drawing exact doses in clinical settings, ensuring ea meets the highest safety and accuracy standards.

Contains

The BD Micro-Fine+ 1ml 29G syringe includes:

  • 1ml Calibrated Barrel: A transparent syringe barrel that can hold up to 1.0 milliliter of fluid. The barrel typically has bold graduation marks at every 0.01 ml (1 unit) and larger markings at 10-unit increments up to 100 units (since insulin is often measured in units). This enables precise dose measurements even for odd-numbered doses. The barrel is made of polypropylene and is latex-free.
  • Attached 29G Needle (12.7mm length): A fine 29-gauge needle is permanently attached to the barrel. The needle is usually 12.7mm (1/2 inch) long for the 1ml size, though BD also produces short needle variants (8mm) for 1ml – the common one is 12.7mm which is standard for insulin delivery to ensure it reaches subcutaneous tissue even in heavier patients. The needle has a proprietary tri-bevel cut and is coated with a medical-grade lubricant, making penetration smooth and reducing pain. Despite the larger barrel size, the needle remains slender, and BD’s manufacturing ensures consistency in needle quality.
  • Smooth Plunger with Stopper: The plunger rod is long enough to push the insulin out from the 1ml barrel. It has a rubber stopper at the end that is typically latex-free to create a tight seal within the barrel. This ensures accurate drawing and injecting, with no leaks. The plunger is designed to stop at exactly 0 units line, meaning when fully depressed, it minimizes dead space (some BD 1ml syringes also have low dead space design).
  • Protective Caps: Each syringe comes with a protective cap over the needle (sometimes colored orange in insulin syringes) and a cap at the plunger end. These keep the syringe sterile and the needle tip protected from bending or contamination before use.
  • Sterile Packaging: Each syringe is individually packaged to maintain sterility until use. They are sterilized usually by ethylene oxide and clearly labeled for single use.

No separate needle or attachment is required – it’s a one-piece unit ready to fill and inject.

Intended for

The BD Micro-Fine+ 1ml 29G syringe is intended for situations where a larger volume (up to 1ml) needs to be administered subcutaneously with precision and relative comfort. Key intended uses include:

  • Insulin Injections (Higher Doses): Patients with diabetes who require larger doses of insulin (for instance, many Type 2 diabetics or those on high-dose regimens might inject 50-100 units at a time). The 1ml size allows them to take the full dose in one syringe rather than splitting into two injections. It’s also used for basal insulin doses which can be higher, or when mixing two types of insulin in one syringe (common in some regimens) – the 1ml capacity provides the needed space. The 29G needle, while very fine, has enough inner diameter to allow slightly thicker insulin (like U-40 or mixed insulin suspensions) to flow without clogging, yet it’s still fine enough to keep injections relatively painless.
  • Subcutaneous Medications: Any medicine requiring subcutaneous injection up to 1ml can be delivered with this syringe. Examples: Some fertility medications (e.g., certain gonadotropins or progesterone in aqueous base if subcutaneous), or medications for chronic conditions like growth hormone (although those are usually in even smaller volumes), GLP-1 agonists for diabetes/obesity (if drawn from a * shots (which are often intramuscular but low dose ones can be subcutaneous).
  • Heparin or Anticoagulant Injections: Low Molecular Weight Heparin (like enoxaparin) is sometimes drawn from multi-dose vials for subcutaneous injection in the abdomen. If a precise dose is needed that’s not provided in a pre-filled syringe, a 1ml syringe is used. The volume might be 0.4ml or 0.6ml, etc., and the 1ml barrel allows that measure, while the 29G needle minimizes bruising and pain, important since these shots can sting and cause bruises. -mmunotherapy (Higher Dose Injections):** As patients build up to maintenance allergen doses, the injection volume can approach 0.5ml to 1ml subcutaneously. The 1ml 29G syringe can be used for these allergy shots, given typically in the back of the arm or thigh, with comfort.
  • Cosmetic Sclerotherapy (Small Veins): Dermatologists might use insulin syringes for injecting sclerotherapy solutions into tiny spider veins. The 1ml capacity allows control of volume, and the 29G needle is fine enough to enter the sclerosant.
  • Precise Measurement for Multi-Use Vials: In situations like drawing up 0.5ml of a vaccine or medication from a vial to then inject intramuscularly with a different needle, some syringe is chosen for accuracy. (However, usually 1ml Luer-lock syringes are used with separate needles for IM, not insulin syringes. But in subcut use, insulin syringes are the go-to.)

The target users include both healthcare professionals and patients who self-inject. For example:

  • A Type 2 diabetic patient on 80 units of insulin glargine nightly will use a 1ml syringe to measure and inject in one go, benefiting from the clear markings and the lidocaine-like smooth injection feel of the BD needle.
  • A nurse giving an allergy shot finds the one-piece unit quick and safe to use; no needle attachment means fewer steps and less chance of error or needle stick.
  • Endocrinologists and fertility specialists might instruct patients to use this syringe for certain hormone injections where half or full mses are needed subcutaneously, highlighting its ease of use even at home.

An important note: with the 29G needle at 12.7mm, in very lean individuals or for children, care must be taken not to inject too deep; usually a pinch of the skin is done to ensure it goes into fat. For heavier individuals, the 12.7mm needle helps ensure it reaches the subcutaneous tissue through the subderal layer. Finally, BD Micro-Fine+ syringes are known to “tailor the ideal aesthetic treatment for the patient and to meet the need of both patient and physician” by offering different volumes and needle sizes. In that context, the 1ml 29G caters to scenarios requiring maximum volume and a sturdy, fine needle – bridging the gap between comfort and capacity.
